Flickr of the Week #16

Monday, October 20th, 2008

I’m really happy that I found this guy on flickr this week. He’s another freehand character artist - I love his characters. He goes by the name of Farm and is a member of CSK (The Countryside Krew). He has a very cool style which I find very refreshing.

Mac

Friday, October 17th, 2008

Mac is a freehand artist who has jaw dropping style. His work looks like it’s been printed straight off photoshop and stuck on the wall. I’m amazed at how realistic his work looks. Check out the shots below for a lesson in great street art:

Thanks to Fill for the heads up.

Tom Blackford

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Tom Blackford of INKFETISH.co.uk recently got in touch and showed me some of his brilliant work. His street work is all freehand. Whilst on his website, I noticed this piece (below) which looks like it’s from Leake Street. If anyone could confirm this it would be appreciated:

The piece to me, above, looks really sinister with the ‘devil’ in the background. This is an excellent example of Tom’s fantastic character designs. The picture below looks inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I must say that the Cat is bloody scary.

I look forward to seeing more of Tom’s work in the future. To see more of his previous work and keep upto date with his blog check out INKFETISH.co.uk.

Elph

Elph is a fantastic Scottish writer. His work is bright, varied and detailed: a combination of features which produces his unique work. I’m a big fan of his outrageous style and intense detail showing what talent free hand artists can achieve. Elph’s locations he’s painted in is quickly increasing and he featured at the recent Cans 2 event (see picture 2 below). Take a look at the work below from the Edinburgh artist:

I look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.

Sam3

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Spanish artist Sam3 has a very unique way of painting on walls - using a paintbrush. Remember those? This crazy dude uses a paintbrush, when everyone has upgraded to spray cans Sam3 is still slapping the paint on slowly with his brush.

All jokes aside, Sam3 creates black silhouetted people, creatures and objects on the streets to make brilliantly unique pieces. The paintbrush doesn’t seem to limit him in any way, thankfully, as some of his art is huge! (See below)

Sam3’s work has appeared in a vast array of countries from his home country of Spain to the UK and his work has even been captured on the Palestinian Wall. The picture below is a brilliant example of Sam’s humorous work. It’s great to see he has designed his work around the environment.

Deac4

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Deac4’s characters are inspiring. The piece, photographed below, has really impressed me and made me take note of Deac4’s ability. Entitled ‘Queen of Pain’ it looks very deep with meaning, cold and sombre.

Deac4 is definitely a free hand artist to keep your eyes and ears open for in the future.
