Fafi
Friday, January 2nd, 2009Female street artists are still few and far between but we are seeing new artists entering the fray. One female artist call Fafi may be as important in the movement of bringing women to the street art scene as Emily Pankhurst was to allowing women to vote.

Her art is full of female characters which I think helped her success. Saucy, sexy and fiesty seems to be the attitude of many of her characters falling victim to a very sterotypical position. Fafi was hugely talented as the pictures show. All of her work appears to be very clean colourful freehand aerosol work.

Fafi was born and raised in Toulouse, France and has been painting since ‘94. She is a fantastic artist who has really help paved the way for other female artists to follow in this male dominated environment. Fafi brought a lot of attention on to herself and she caught the eyes of some huge global businesses including Sony, Adidas and Coca Cola.

Now-a-days Fafi is no longer as active as she once was. I’m sure her passion for art still burns but the responsibilty of motherhood has her heart. 2007 was the year Fafi’s art career changed slightly. Whilst she has not given up completely, you won’t see her hanging off a bridge trying to get up.
