The Krah Locked Up

By: Nova | Category: Artists, News | Comments: None | 20/11/08 |

Don’t worry, it’s not like it sounds.

The Krah is still out making brilliant art and has found a way to effectively dodge the buffers. The Krah’s pieces have been attached to fences by padlocks and have, so far, dodged the pressure washers of the government employed buffers.

The Beloved USPS Sticker

By: Nova | Category: Bizarre | Comments: None | 19/11/08 |

The USPS (United States Postal Service) sticker has been used by hundreds of street artists as an effective way to get up. It has now become an icon of street sticker artists, much like the ‘Hello My Name Is’ stickers. Any urban US city is now filled with these little artworks - whilst USPS probably isn’t happy that their stickers are being used for something other than directed, they must be pleased with their logo displayed everywhere!

Human, an American street artist and highly active forum member, has impressed us with a great paste up and effective use of environment. As pictured below, Human has put together a much larger ‘USPS sticker’ paste up.

Part2ism

By: Nova | Category: Artists | Comments: None | 18/11/08 |

Part2ism is a difficult artist to summarise in a phrase or two. Whilst I’ll try, I don’t think I’ll do a particularly good job it at. Probably best to skip to the pictures below to truly appreciate the beauty of his pieces.

Part2ism is an artist with no boundaries and is always trying to break the moulds of the typical street artist. His art is thought provoking and his well rounded ladies are often controversial. With over two decades of gracing the streets with his pieces, his experience is certainly evident in his work. Part2ism’s works aren’t constricted by any medium, he uses a whole host of tools to their strengths from straight freehand aerosol to wheat pastes.

Below are two pictures showing Part2ism’s lady friends:

Here’s a great installation on the London tube. Difficult to put a finger on the meaning of it:

Lastly some pictures of Part2ism’s oldest work - fantastic freehand aerosol in York.

Flickr of the Week #20

Stickers and wheatpastes are Lints speciality. And as slaps and wheatpastes go hand in hand with characters too, Lints has no short supply of great critters. Below is a lovely little chappy rather Pokemon-esk.

Environmental Art

By: Nova | Category: Artists, Bizarre | Comments: None | 15/11/08 |

Yesterday we looked at the Un-plugged project which raised awareness of our energy usage. Today, we continue that environmental theme by looking at work by Mr. Scruff and Paul ‘Curtis’ Moose (best known for his reverse graffiti).

Below is a brilliant little video about the ‘Fish on a hillside’.

Un-plugged Project

By: Nova | Category: Stickers | Comments: None | 14/11/08 |

With the world facing energy issues imminently, environmental groups reminding us of our responsibilty to our planet and governments taxing everything that pollutes the globe, you are probably trying to limit your carbon footprint in one way or another - even if its just to save a bit of cash. The Un-plugged project is growing into a global phenomena taking over the streets of even the most inaccessible urban spaces. Un-plugged is an on-going project highlighting the possible loss of power that humanity will one day face! (A scary thought - can you imagine life without Concrete Canvas!!!).

The Un-plugged project involves the placement of stickers designed to look exactly like mains power sockets. As you probably know, not all countries have the same power sockets and so the variety of stickers is still there. It is a strange site seeing an indoor power socket on the street, especially on the outside of a multi-storey car park.

The project has been active for over 7 years, in 20 countries involving more than 40,000 stickers. Get involved asap and spread the message.
