Flickr of the week #25!

Friday, May 8th, 2009

This week’s FOTW was submitted via email to me, and after carefully comparing it with the other submissions, I’ve decided that Myne’s page is this week’s winner. It was close, but I really like Myne’s stuff.

I really don’t ever know what to say with these things, I find that people should decide for themselves whether they like something rather than someone giving them reasons why they should like it, so I’ll let you see them yourself.

Heres some pics:

Flickr of the week #24!

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Ladies and gentlemen. I would like to inform you that Flickr of the Week has made a comeback!

Yes, that’s right! While it never officially left, I think I’ve been a little *cough* lax in posting them. Anyways, it has returned, and should be here for a while!

To mark it’s return, I have also added a thread in the forums where suggestions can be submitted (link is here), or you can submit in the normal way, via the contact form.

Anyways, this week’s Flickr of the week is .FAKE.!

Heres some pics from it:

Keep submitting!

Flickr of the Week #23

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Gemma Compton, a British artist, just loves birds and nature. Her work is filled with inspiration drawing of natural life. She’s a hugely talented artist with massive ability at drawing birds. Gemma mainly paste ups black and white posters on the street which look like they have been stenciled. Her work is phenomenal and that’s why we’ve selected her flickr for FOTW #23.

Flickr of the Week #22

Monday, January 12th, 2009

With the reintroduction of Flickr of the Week last week it has made us consider the huge number of artists that show off their work on flickr. Bonus Saves is an artist who is a real asset to the street art scene and that’s why he deserves Flickr of the Week. He voluntarily promotes the Free Art movement and in particular the It’s Yours Take It iniative.

We covered Bonus Saves in our 20 Artists to Watch in 2009!  series of posts and by making him flickr of the week it’ll be all that easier for you guys to watch all his new uploads.

One of my favourite pieces of work that Bonus has created is the Owl Tree:

Flickr of the Week #21

Monday, January 5th, 2009

After a few technical issues we’re back with a Concrete Canvas tradition, Flickr of the Week. Every week we highlight our favourite flickr and one to watch in the future. Flickr is a great website which celebrates a huge range of work, it was originally intended for photographers to be used as a social networking site but now street artists have taken to it and spread like wildfire. It’s a great utility to display photos of your own work and increase public awareness of your talent. No longer does a tiny little tag in a backstreet lay unseen, now the rest of the world can glare upon it and cast judgement!

This week flickr of week goes to an artist who I have been watching since starting Concrete Canvas. Asboluv is an English artist who describes himself as a ‘born again hooligan’. Like the res of the Grafik Warfare squad, his stencils are always clean and his lines sharp. One of his most iconic designs is the ‘Afro girl’ – an image clearly dear to his heart.

Asboluv is our first flickr of the week 2009 and it’s good to have it back!
