It’s Yours Take it

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

One of the most interesting projects on the go right now. ‘It’s Yours, Take it’ originally spawned from the ‘Free Art Friday’ project in which artist would leave a piece of art on the street for someone to, hopefully, pick up, take home and cherish.

The IYTI project is much like ‘Free Art Friday’, but instead of one artist leaving art on their own, a bus load of artists leave a cornucopia of art in one place. ‘It’s Yours, Take it’ events have happened in many cities worldwide with work from artists across the globe.

We have covered Southsea IYTI event on Concrete Canvas back in July and Edwin looked forward to the Belfast event happening in November, as you can probably tell with all this coverage we think this event is awesome and we are asking people, on behalf of the organisers, to get involved.

So far events have taken place in eleven cities:
Tel Aviv, Israel
Southsea Hampshire, UK
Chicago, IL., US
Honolulu, HI, US
Tempe & Phoenix, AZ, US
Germany
Coffs Harbour, Australia
Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada
New Orleans,LA, US
Singapore
Boston, MA, US

Another five events are planned before the end of 2008. For more details on the event and how you can get involved check out the “It’s Yours, Take it” blog.

Street Art Olympics

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

With the Beijing Olympics just finished it’s almost a perfect time to mention metatribe’s Street Art Olympics project. Metatribe has been taking flags of countries entering the Olympics, turning them into a sticker and changing them slightly to incorporate his logo. A brilliant idea with some awesome results.

See if you can guess the countries below, hit his flickr up for the answers:

Deac4

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Deac4’s characters are inspiring. The piece, photographed below, has really impressed me and made me take note of Deac4’s ability. Entitled ‘Queen of Pain’ it looks very deep with meaning, cold and sombre.

Deac4 is definitely a free hand artist to keep your eyes and ears open for in the future.

JAYBO

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Projections are a great way of getting some big work up on some awesome buildings. One brilliant example of this is by artist JAYBO.

This piece was found in Berlin. The complexity of the design and the architecture both go hand in hand to produce an overall stunning piece of work.
